January 2, 2022

A lot of today was spent on the road. Paul and I packed up at Dancing Bear Lodge, had a nice brekkie at Apple Valley and were off for home. Travel always involves some tidying up details when you get home. We had unopened Christmas gifts even. So we took care of opening those and there were some very lovely items. Denise gave us a very pretty salad set for our anniversary. John and Candee gave us candles and placemats and Renie gave us tea and spices and a nice set of note cards as well as cookies which we took to Townsend.

Xul has to have a lap sit on Paul after we opened our gifts. He is a snuggle-bunny and Paul loves these cats so much!

I then cooked some posole for Paul's dinner and to share with our friend Ellen Bebb who got hit in the head by a tree limb. Fortunately, it was small branch and she escaped with just a scalp laceration and a scare. I have seen those kill people or maim limbs, so I am so glad it wasn't worse. I had a short but nice visit with them. She looked not much worse for the wear, thank God!

Roger came over and collected a big bag of leftover food from his birthday party that got mistakenly left behind. He told me had only had one other birthday party in his life. I told him I am already planning his next one! It's true, too!

Then Paul and I went for our "get your steps" walk. I am still a bit short but I will get there in a few minutes.

After that, I was off to Johnson City. I made a resolution of sorts to myself to try to go to JCMC the night before if I am working days as the 5 am wakeup call gets harder and harder to obey sometimes. I am old enough now that being kind to myself is necessary! We are supposed to have "snowmageddon" tonight---several inches--- and that was another motivator to get going.  Half the time, snow doesn't fall, but if it did, I might have problems getting here.

Our small Christmas tree was still up and I will probably leave it till the wise men have done their thing.

I started a NOOM subscription and would really like to get to a goal weight this year. They at least use psychology to help you get to your goal weight and no food is off-limits---which I like because face it--I like a lot of different foods. I am a fairly healthy eater anyway, but I eat too much and also am an "emotional/stress" eater. We shall see. The first lesson was pretty good, but I can't really start until I get a scale here. I have one in Knoxvegas, but I need to weigh daily, so I need another one.

Anyway, I'm getting sleepy, so that was my day!

We saw a Jimmy Carter documentary last night, so I am going to fill the next month with Jimmy Carter quotes:

"My position has always been, along with many other people, that any differences be resolved in a nonviolent way."

- Jimmy Carter.
